More than 600 nursing assistants gather in Joplin to send a message to Washington.
Members of the National Association of Geriatric Nursing Assistants gathered at the John Q. Hammons trade center on Thursday.
Their goal, to sign a petition to be sent to President Bush to stop cuts in the Medicare budget.
That`s because effective October 1st, the government is expected to cut Medicare coverage by 10 percent.
"Unless we`re able to act quickly to convince President Bush not to sign those cuts. It will have a devastating impact on residential care in this county and we should not make these cuts on the back of our seniors,"said Lori Porter, Chief Exec. NAGNA.
