The early hour didn`t stop four state residents from showing their patriotism on Tuesday morning. When the military reservists arrived at the Joplin Regional Airport, they were greeted with a warm welcome from the community. Members of the community came out and lined Dennis Weaver Drive to show their support for the reservists returning from Cuba. The troops were greeted with flags, banners, and yells of support. Members of the community came to let the men and women know they are heroes. Van Benson, who welcomed the troops home said, "We just wanted to come show our support for the troops that have been in Gitmo, just to let them know as Americans we are so proud of them, they are true American heroes." Troop supporter Judy Love said, "It`s really been kinda an emotional thing for us, because we watch the young men, they`re so young, come in to the parking lot with their wives and young babies, sometimes i wonder if this is the first time they get to see their young children." With the Fourth of July this week, the event was a way for people of all ages to show support for their country. Local organizations such as the Joplin`s Chamber of Commerce and Blast From the Past also came out to say welcome back. Several soldiers told KSN said they were surprised and excited to receive such a warm welcome from the community. Reported By: Sheradee Scott
