Area hospitals are busy this long holiday weekend dealing with firework related accidents.Doctors at Freeman emergency room say the number of accident have been on the rise this year. Overnight doctors treated five firework-related injuries.
Four of those injuries were on children and one was an adult.Doctors say some common injuries this time of year are minor burns to the skin and eye injuries.
They say usually a lack of parental supervision is one of the main factors that contribute to the injuries.
"We see a lot of fourth of July archival related injury, but the fireworks things tend to be kids most of the time. So alchol is not usually as much of a factor in that as it is other summertime injuries," said Dr. Jim Pyron from Freeman Hospital.
Officials say although the fourth of July holiday is over, it`s still important to keep an eye on your child in case they are tempted by leftover fireworks.
