One four-state man seems to have discovered the fountain of youth, and it`s found at the Joplin Family Y. Meet 90 year old Charley Tanner. He`s a regular here at the Joplin Family Y and these are Charlies Angels. The angels threw Charlie a birthday party in honor of his 90th birthday. "We just makes sure he gets here in the morning. We always need that laugh to get us going and encouragement and if he doesn`t show up we start calling and looking for him. We try to make sure he gets here on Monday`s Wednesday`s and Friday`s. Charley visits the Y three times a week. A ritual he`s taken part in for the last eight years. "He`s got a wonderful sense of humor.A sense of love of living and no matter what he`s gone thought in his life and we know he`s gone through some tragedy, he`s come back with a smile and not given up,"said Renee Hatlelid,Charlie`s Angel. "He`s an interesting man. He`ll tell you stories of the way it used to be, what happened when we was growing up,"said Kathy Komer, another of his Angels. Over the years Charley has amassed many friends at the Y,who say they love him dearly. "I`ve got four or five gals that call themselves Charlies Angels and their great pals. They like to exercise and their a lot of help." So what`s his secret to living to 90? Well Charlie says a good shot of Jack Daniels never hurt. "I`ve never been a real health nut. never was, maybe it`s the kind of genes you got." You can work out with Charlie too.He arrives every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, promptly at 9am.
