The world`s most famous bachelor comes to a four state annual celebration. Apple Butter Makin` Days is an annual event in Mt. Vernon, but this year was a little different than others. Joplin native, Aaron Buerge, from ABC`s, "The Bachelor" showed up and found time to talk to us about his national television debut. He says, "If you can imagine waking up every morning and going to bed every night with the camera on you, that`s what it was like, no privacy." And Buerge`s philosophy to forget about the cameras, is to act natural. "You have to forget the cameras are rolling, you have to be yourself," said Buerge. But more importantly that that, a bachelor has to know how to relax the anxious women. He explains, "It was very hard to make the ladies feel comfortable, you have to joke a lot, make them be themselves, that`s the only way we would get to know each other." And this ladies` man admits, at times that wasn`t easy for him, "It was much more of a job than i ever thought it would be." But as the show went on it all worked out. "You can`t lose sight of the objective to get to know these women and hope for the ideal outcome," Buerge says. And you have to wonder is the ideal outcome really true love? "In the beginning I was as skeptic as anybody," he admits. But after it`s all said and done, he has changed his views on the reality love show. Buerge admits, "Throughout the process I became a believer that you can fall in love under that circumstance and I`m pleased with the outcome." And if engagement is the outcome you are hoping for Buerge says, "You`ll have to watch the show." But ladies don`t think he`s off limits just yet. "Regardless of the outcome of the show, marriage is a long way off, confesses the Bachelor." Buerge`s family still resides here in Joplin, however he now makes his home in Springfield where he is Vice President of a bank.
