Getting the right type of medication can literally mean a difference between life and death. That`s why the United Way, Freeman Healthcare System and St.John`s Regional Medical Center are teaming up to create Pharm-Aid.A program that puts free medication into the hands of less fortunate local residents. "Many communities have nothing like this. I`ve lived in the east coast and the west coast, and I`ve lived in many larger communities that have no free care for people at all. Joplin is very fortunate that they have places like the Clinic and Pharm-Aid and the two hospitals to get care when needed,"said Nina Brueckner from the Joplin Community Clinic. The program has been operating about four months and has alreday seen a great need for the service. One of the goals of Pharm-Aid is to alleviate some of the visitors to emergency rooms and have them come to the Community Clinic for their medical needs. Residents in joplin, webb city and carl junction are eligiable for the pharm air program.
