Officials determine what they thought was a possible explosive on the side of the road. Officers blocked a section of Hammer road north of Neosho after receiving reports that a small device on the side of the road was making a beeping noise. The state Fire Marshall sent digital pictures of the device to the Jefferson City Bomb Squad, but they could not determine what the device was. After officers searched the Internet they determined the object was a hydro-sensos a device used to measure moisture in carpets. Officers say the rain was causing the sensor to beep. The road was re-opened this afternoon around noon.
