Busy Day at the Post Office

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Tis the season to catch up with old friends and if you mailed your holiday cards today you aren`t alone. With christmas just nine days away today is one of the busiest mailing days of the holiday season. Area post offices were no exception. Local postal workers expected to handle almost one-thousand transactions today alone. Nationally 850-million items were expected to be postmarked. But it doesn`t end today, workers at the Joplin post office are planning on a very busy week. "We have the windows full most of the day. We`ll run four windows all that we can. We`re shortening our lunch hours. trying to accommodate the best that we can. Monday is the last day to mail anything overseas and have it delivered by christmas. But you have until Friday to mail a package and have it delivered by Christmas in the United States. Reported By:Brad Douglas
