Tornadoes were also spotted in several areas of the four-states. In Newton and McDonald Counties, officials received an unconfirmed report that a tornado touched down five miles south of Neosho. Damage in the area was reported to consist of downed trees and branches and damage to one home and barn three miles west of Fairview in eastern Newton County. In Barry County, Missouri...a tornado was spotted on the ground nine miles west of Monett. Debris clouds were also spotted in the area, but no severe damage was reported. Other severe weather was also reported in southeast Kansas. Tornadoes were reported on the ground in parts of Columbus and Melrose in Cherokee County and golf-ball sized hail fell in parts of the region. Tornadoes were also spotted in areas of Jasper County, but most of the reported damage was contained to Jasper, Missouri. Officials reported power was out in parts of Jasper after the storms went through. Another tornado was spotted in Lamar where a home is reported to have received damage. In all these instances, the tornados were reported by trained tornado spotters, but they still remain officially unconfirmed at this time. Investigators from the National Weather Service will come to the area in the next few days to survey the damage. They will then determine if it was a tornado which actually hit these areas and what size the tornado may have been.
