Lawrence County Tornado

A four state county assesses the damage after a tornado rips through their area taking at least one life and destroying homes. The tornado touched down in Lawrence County around 11:10 Wednesday night. It hit in an area in between Mt. Vernon and Chesapeake on Highway 174. One fatality has been confirmed...a 47 year old woman was killed at her home just a half mile from the Lucky Lady mobile home park. Several others remain in the hospital with numerous injuries. Around 150 emergency personel responded to the scene Wednesday night. Crews returned to the scene at daybreak this morning to continue searching and sifting through the damaged homes. Officials say 16 homes were completely destroyed at the mobile home park...only 9 home remain standing. Lawrence County sheriff`s deputies say around 50 to 75 people lived in the park and those whose home were destroyed were put up in hotels in Mt. Vernon. They were able to return to their homes earlier today. Stay tuned to KSN for further developments with this story.
