With war looming in the headlines, America is gearing up for a possible strike on Iraq.
With a possible war in Iraq one Four State Educator is weighing the pros and cons. Professor Conrad Gubgera teaches at Missouri Southern State College and says he hopes America doesn`t go to war.
"I hope we talk back and forth. I hope its the best poker game we`ve watched since the big hand for the little lady in the old western movies. I sure don`t want to see America go to war with Iraq. I really don`t." He says that understanding Saddam Hussein is key to winning a possible war. "You`re dealing with a man who deals in bits and pieces. He understands the use of power. He understands the use of play actions. Understands the use of image. He`s clever in this sort of thing."
And if Hussein is ousted from power,Gubbera says the Iraqi people would have a civil war. "I do think they`d be in a state of civil war. I do think tribes would turn against one another. I don`t see that they have any kind of leadership structure."
Also Gubera says any possible war would be dependent on weather in the region.
"I would imagine there is a time when we go to war because of the geography if nothing else. In March the winds and the rains come. And the heat, there`s probably a window that the administration is looking for us far as time frame in regard to war."
Professor Guberra says if Hussain is thrown out of power.
One of the local tribe leaders could take his place.
