Two four-state men accused of spraying pepper spray in a Joplin movie theater are released on bond.
18-year old Eli Crawford of Joplin and 18-year old John Russell of Seneca were arrested last night at Hollywood Theaters. The two men were charged with disturbing the peace. Witnesses say they saw the men spraying pepper spray inside one of the theaters. According to the theater manager 30 to 40 people had to be evacuated due to the spray. "One of our ushers started getting a sharp pain in his esophagus, and in his throat. He started gagging a little bit and then he noticed a whole bunch of people getting up. Everyone in the auditorium started getting up and coughing. We had a lady vomit,"said Kyle Fewin, Hollywood Theater Manager.
If the two men are prosecuted the two men could serve up to 100 days in jail. They both will appear in court on March 20th.
