Child abduction is one of the most traumatic experiences a parent could ever go through.
After two long years, Crystal Cox is doing something she never thought she would do again. She`s holding her three year old daughter Erica in her arms. According to police, Erica`s father abducted the girl in 2001 and fled to Florida, where he`s been hiding her ever since."I immediately contacted the police, tried to do everything in my power to work on getting her back. Filed police reports, talked to the prosecuting attorney, went through legal aid, went through it all. We could never get him in one spot to get her,"said Cox.
According to Cox, the child`s father did everything he could to hide his daughter. Even to go as far as cutting her hair, and calling Erica... Eric. "He even went so far as down to the boxers. That`s kinda sick." Crystal says it`s been two long years of not knowing where Erica was or even if she was still alive. "I didn`t know if i was ever going to see her again. and it was hard because I just wanted to touch her, to hug her and just love on her. Tell her everything`s going to be all right. Erica, Mom`s got you." But this story does have a happy ending,Crystal received a call from the Florida DFS saying Erica had been found. That`s when she went to Florida to be reunited with her daughter. "And I walked up to her and said Erica. Hi, dry your eyes, it`s Mommy and I love you. I`m here to take you home." As for the father, Crystal says she wants to put him out of her mind. "He is in jail facing warrants in five different states. I shouldn`t have to worry about him for a long time." Instead, the family just wants to catch up on lost time and put this traumatic experience behind them. The Cox family plans to attend counseling to help them get through the horror of the last two years.
