It`s one of the most common complaints about the internet e-mail spam. It`s clogging up in-boxes. If you have an e-mail account, you know cleaning out spam can be a hassle. This particualr e-mail account has 931 messages, and most of them are unwanted spam. "It`s hard to even get to their messages because of all the spam. Like today I had 96 and all of them were spam, and not one of em was from anybody I wanted to hear from,"said Steve Lemieux, E-Mail sender. "I miss out on a lot of important emails and things because of the spam. If you get too much and I don`t have enough strage for all the spam and important stuff. So I have to go through there delete all that first before i can read my other ones,"said Natasha Ellis, Hates Spam. But there may be some hope. A new proposed piece of legislation would place fines on spammers. Fast freedom.net is a Joplin based internet provider which recieves 100 thousand spam e-mails a day. They hope the legislation will help. "It`s really tough to do. Basically you have something that there has never been any policing of. And now your trying to police it from all levels,"Jeff Triplett, Fast Freedom.com The new legislation in the U.S. house would make it possible for an ISP to sue for damages of 10 dollars for each spam sent. Sexually oriented material in e-mail would be a crime. And if sent spammer could spend up to two years in prison. "Yeah if it would teach em a lesson. If a fine wouldn`t work, then send em to jail. The pornographic stuff can just stay. we don`t need all that stuff,"said Ellis. The bill still has to be signed by the Senate and the President before it will go into law.
