A four state community is not thrilled with one leader`s plan for cleaning up the area. Some Picher-Cardin residents say they are upset with senator Jim Inhofe`s phase one plan for cleaning up the tar creek area.
Community members say 45 million dollars is to be spent to clean up the area, but none of their opinions were taken into consideration for the Senator`s plan.
Residents say the phase one plan deals with outlying areas, but doesn`t touch the city where people live. The majority of residents say they would prefer the government buying out their property.
"No one can sell their home here. I mean who wants to move to the number one super fund site in the country with all the problems we have here, but it,things like that, you can`t sell a home here,"said John Sparkman.
While most community members want to leave the area for better ground they say the government is making that nearly impossible.
