A piece of land in the four states may soon be listed as a superfund site. The environmental protection agency is proposing to put the Newton County mine tailings site on their national priorities list. Sites on the NPL are eligible for extensive, long term cleanup action under the superfund program. The Newton County Mine Tailings site is in the extreme southwest corner of Missouri. The site contains the presence of lead and cadmium contamination in residental drinking water. Reported By:Brad Douglas
