The test results are in and Joplin`s high school students are doing well in most areas. The results of the Stanford tests were given at the Joplin School Board meeting. School officials say these tests show that Joplin`s High school students are doing just fine when compared to other students across the nation. The Stanford Achievement tests were given to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students earlier this year. These tests are in a question answer type format and only test in the areas that the map test don`t. School administrators say these students are above the 50th percentile in math, science, and social studies. But officials say they could use some help in improving the grammar and writing scores. All in all school leaders say they are proud of the recent Stanford scores. School board members are still awaiting the results of the map tests.
The hope to have those sometime in August. The school board has also announced that Governor Holden will be making a stop in Joplin this Saturday.
He is expected to sign a bill that will change the name of Missouri Southern State College to Missouri Southern State University Joplin.
