Joplin Fire Department Grants

Local fire departments are also receiving a helping hand. Over 70-thousand dollars in grants have been approved for two area fire departments. The Carthage fire department will receive over 25-thousand dollars. The money will be used to institute a health and wellness program for their 22-person staff. Tri-cities fire protection district, based in Purcell, will get a grant of nearly 45-thousand dollars. That money will be used to purchase new personal fire safety equipment. The grants require a 10-percent match from the local departments.
