Cherokee County Jail Bid

One four state county finally accepts a bid for a new jail. Cherokee County has been looking at building a new jail for some time. Now, the County Commissioners have accepted a bid from Crosslands Construction for the main portion of the building. Crossland`s original bid came in at six-point-72 million dollars. the new facility will move the jail and the Sheriff`s department from it`s current location at the county courthouse. The jail will be 25-thousand square feet and feature 84 beds. Currently, the current Cherokee County jail has only 28 beds. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
