New research is sending a strong message to women who stop wearing their seatbelt during pregnancy. The study shows than many pregnant women don`t wear seatbelts because it`s either inconvenient or they are afraid it will hurt their un-born child. But doctors in the four states agree with the study`s findings, saying it`s important for pregnant women to wear a seatbelt anytime they are in a car. "What women need to know is that they big risk is if they dont` and they are in a car accident they can be thrown forward and the force of being thrown forward and then stopping abruptly can cause serious damage not only to them, but also their babies,"said Cheryl Fogarty, M.D. Dr. Fogarty says while a woman is pregnant it is important to position the seatbelt differently to protect their unborn babies.
