Carterville Shooting Update

Police release the identity of a man who was fatally shot by police officers.52-year old Jesse Hembree of Webb City was shot yesterday afternoon after an altercation with police officers. Carterville Police say Hembree struck a police officer when she responded to reports of a robbery at an area convenience store. That`s when the officer fired her gun, killing Hembree. The officer was treated and released at a local hospital. She is currently on paid administrative leave pending completion of the investigation.Officials with the Jasper County Sheriff`s Department say a preliminary investigation suggests an autopsy is needed, as well as a review of the witnesses statements.
