Laboring on Labor Day

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Many are celebrated their labor day holiday at work. Firefighters at the Joplin Fire Department had to put in their normal eight hour day. That`s because firefighters must always be on standby for any emergencies which may occur. Today they took the extra time to prepare the truck for any emergency call. "As far as our job, thats one of the down sides to it. Like you said fire knows no holiday neither does ems or any other kind of tragedy. We`re there all the time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,"said Terry Steen, Joplin Fire Department. Another local business which required workers was Hollywood theaters. Employees say nearly 700 tickets were ripped today with people taking in a movie on their day off. Reported By: Brad Douglas
