First Day of School

Updated: January 7, 2009
After an extended summer break, local students are finally back in class. Carl Junction students and faculty were back in class for the first day of school today. Elementary and Middle School classes ended early after the May 4th tornado caused extensive damage to the buildings. Re-construction has been underway at the school ever since. Today`s reunion was long in coming for many people at the school. "Very appreciative that we get to start when we did. I missed a lost of the kids, and didn`t realize how much I missed em until I saw them again,"said Mona Donnell, 4th Grade Teacher. Because contruction to some of the classrooms is not quite finished, some classes are being held in trailers. Adminstrators say they should be back in the regular classrooms by November or December.
