Voters in one four state county are once again facing a tax concern.
Volunteer fire fighters in Ottawa County, Oklahoma are asking again for sales tax money to continue running the nine departments. The department has been trying to get a sales tax passed for two years, but have been defeated at the polls. But instead of adding additional sales tax to this year`s november ballot, the fire fighters are proposing to take one-eighth of a half-cent tax already going to improve roads. Wyandotte Fire Chief Leon Crow says the fire fighters will keep trying, even after last year`s defeat.
On the same ballot, Ottawa County Officials are going to ask voters to approve a half-cent sales tax to build a new courthouse estimated at six-and-a-half million dollars in a special election this november.
