Watch Out for Charity Scams

Unfortunately, not all Four-State residents are as self-less in our country`s time of sorrow. That`s why officials are warning people to beware when they are asked to donate funds to help victims of the attacks. While officials urge to support the effort the best that they can. Also make sure the funds are going to a legitimate group. First, beware of groups that use names similar to well-known charities. Also, don`t be pressured into making a contribution. Be careful when solicited by a telemarketer. Often they will keep portions of the donation. And, ask for financial statements of the organization to determine who will benefit from your donation. You should also check out any organization before donating money. You can do so by logging onto http://www.give.org.
