After serving the Pittsburg Fire Department for 26 years, the City of Pittsburg has appointed Don Elmer as the new fire chief. Chief Elmer, who has has been serving as acting fire chief for the past six months, succeeds former chief Bill Scott. The new chief says he has some big shoes to fill. "It`s gonna be a challenge and I`m honored that the city officials have confidence in me to do the job and lead the Fire Department into the future,"said Elmer. The city reviewed thirty-six applications before appointing Don Elmer. He is a lifelong resident of Crawford County and began his career at the Pittsburg Fire Department in July of 1977.
