An influential State House member says his job working for a state business group is not a conflict of interest. As we told you yesterday, missouri state representative steve hunter is chairman of the house workforce development and workplace safety committee, a panel that hears numerous bills relating to business. The Joplin Republican is also working as a membership recruiter for the associated industries of Missouri. Hunter says there`s no conflict of interest with being a lawmaker. Hunter says he gained approval from the Missouri Ethics Commission. The commission says its alright to have the job as long as hunter does not personally lobby fellow lawmakers.
