I-44 Fatal Accident

Wet weather is to blame for a traffic accident that claimed the lives of two men. The accident happened yesterday on I-44 near Mount Vernon. The Highway Patrol says a pickup truck slid on wet pavement, crossed the median and slammed into a tractor-trailer coming from the opposite direction. Two men in the vehicle,who were both from Texas,were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the car was taken to St. John`s Regional Medical Center for moderate injuries. Troopers say after crossing the median the pickup was hit by a tractor-trailer that then ran into a third vehicle. A passenger in that car was also taken to St. John`s for serious injuries.
