Sheriff Department Shakeup

Updated: January 7, 2009
KSN spoke with Jasper County Sheriff Archie Dunn late this afternoon,he confirmed that Jasper County Chief Deputy Jerry Neil is no longer an employee at the Sheriff`s department. Neil was employed at the Sheriff`s department for at least fifteen years. Sheriff Dunn says he eliminated the Chief Deputy position as part of restructuring. Neil was named Chief Deputy during the tenure of former Sheriff Bill Pierce. As you may remember, Bill Pierce retired July 16 following an investigation by the Missouri Attorney General`s office. Since Sheriff Dunn took over as Interim Sheriff, he has been busy restructuring the Sheriff`s department`s chain of command. Dunn says he offered Neil another position, but Neil declined. On Tuesday night after being elected, Dunn announced more changes would be forthcoming. Jerry Neil is the third top deputy released by Dunn in the past few months. Captain Gail Bass who worked at the Sheriff`s department for 14 years was released just last month. Captain Tony Coleman was also released in August. Reported By: Janae Menz
