Voters in one four state community say no to education. Voters in Miami turned down a bond issue that would have provided funds to make improvements at five schools in the district. The proposed one point six million dollar bond issue would have expanded the kindergarten building.
Renovated and enlarged Wilson, Washington, and Rockdale schools and made Nichols school into a fifth and sixth grade center. But school officials say they need to listen to their voters.
"We`ll just take a step back and kind of evaluate why it did not pass. What we might do if we offer it again differently and then we`ll make a decision as to whether we`re going to come with this proposal a second time or adjust it in such a way that it has a greater possibility of passing,"said Bill Stephens, Miami School Superintendet. Stephens says so far there`s no indication why the bond issue was defeated.
