Meanwhile, officials with the EPA say they will finish replacing lead-tainted yards in the tar creek superfund site by the end of the month. But Northeastern Oklahoma residents are questioning if this work will actually limit lead exposure. Rising costs are another issue of concern for residents in the area. The EPA backs all the work done on the site however, some tar creek residents are calling the efforts a waste of money. An estimated 95.6 million dollars has been spent on the Tar Creek Project since 1996.
