Picher Police Chase

Updated: January 7, 2009
Ottawa county authorities are searching for a man mistakenly released from a county jail in Kansas. The search for Loyd Wilson is concentrated in the Cardin, Picher and Treece, Kansas, areas. Wilson was serving a 20-year prison term in Oklahoma after his probation on drug convictions was revoked last year. He was sent to Cherokee County, Kansas, earlier this week to face charges there. Ottawa County Sheriff Dennis King says jailers in Kansas apparently misplaced paperwork and didn`t know Wilson was serving a prison term in Oklahoma. King says Wilson is also suspected of stealing two cars and is wanted for questioning in several burglaries since his mistaken release. Reported By: Tiffany Alaniz
