Meth Test

Updated: January 7, 2009
Area convenience stores are being tested for meth. Officers with the Jasper County Drug Task Force have been checking local convince stores to see if they are selling large amounts of cold medicine. The legal limit is three boxes of cold medication. Any more than that sends red flags for possible meth production. An undercover officer visited six businesses and tried to buy more than three boxes of cold medicine. Only one store failed the test. Officers say these tests are necessary to help stop the production. "Just to make sure everything is above board. They kind of get caught up in the speed of the business, and the turnover of the personnel. You need to be reminded to take care of business,"said Carthage Police Chief Dennis Veach. The five stores which passed are Zip Trip 824 East Fairview Dollar General 1221 West Central Price Cutters 1223 West Central Fast Trip South 2816 South Hazel Caseys 2214 Fairlawn Ave The ones who failed is the Snak Atak 1224 West Central They sold the officer six packages. More than fifty stores were tested throughout the county. Reported By:Brad Douglas
