Interstate 44 Work

Updated: January 7, 2009
There`s light at the end of the tunnel for motorists using a busy highway in Joplin. According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, construction on I-44 in Jasper County is nearing completion. The next few days will be spent cleaning up medians and adding stripes to the eastbound lanes. If weather permits, officials expect the work to wrap up by this week. But they caution motorists to expect reduced speeds and lane closures on both sides of the highway in the construction zone. That zone begins just East of the junction of I-44 and 71 highway South, and ends three miles east of the junction of I-44 and Highway 71 North. Reported By:Ryan Loyd
