A county jail inmate who escaped a month ago has surrendered to authorities. 21-year-old Aaron Stevens surrendered yesterday morning and was taken into custody at the Bates County jail in Butler, Missouri. Stevens` family contacted State Senator Harold Caskey of Butler, and told him Stevens wanted to surrender. Authorities say Stevens escaped October 5th after a lock was broken on a jail cell. According to reports, this is the second time Stevens has escaped from the Vernon County Jail. Stevens could now face Stiffer penalties because he could be considered a repeat offender.
