Updated: January 7, 2009
An area man is facing assault charges in two counties. 39-year-old Gerald Rayborn of Seneca was charged last week in Newton County on several sex-crime charges, as well as kidnapping and armed criminal action. He`s also facing charges in McDonald County, including forcible rape and forcible sodomy, as well as one count of making a terroristic threat. The charges stem from an incident on new year`s day, when Rayborn allegedly picked up a girl from a friend`s house. Police reports say he then pulled out a gun, forced her into a vehicle and sexually assaulted her. Rayborn has been held on 600-thousand dollars bond in the Newton County jail since his arrest on January second. His bond on the McDonald County charges was set at 100-thousand dollars.
