breaking news
Students are back in class at one four state university after a meningitis scare at the end of last semester. Today was the first day of classes for students at Pittsburg State University. And on top of the stress of classes students are also dealing with menegitis vaccinations.
Last semester two students who lived on campus contracted menegitis. Doctors say the students are now doing fine, but precautions do need to be taken to prevent spreading the virus.
"It requires close control to spread it and that`s why residence hall is a real concern. Sitting in a classroom is probably not that much of a risk, but sharing a room with someone and dining in those close quarters does improve the likely hood it could be spread,"said Ron Womble, PSU Media Relations. A vaccination clinic will be held at PSU on Thursday for students and faculty. The clinic will be from one p.m. until seven p.m. at Dillinger Hall.
