Joplin Murder Rate

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
The city of Joplin had seven homicides last year, that`s up from just one in 2002. Joplin Police Chief Kevin Lindsey says the change is unusual and he hopes it won`t be repeated. All seven cases have been cleared with arrests in all the criminal cases and three of those suspects pleading guilty. Charges were not filed in two instances including the valentine`s day incident downtown. The prosecutors ruled the shooting by officers was justified. Another case involved a murder suicide which left the suspect deceased. Reported By: Tiffany Alaniz
