Pittsburg Day on the Hill

Updated: January 7, 2009
Area community leaders are preparing for a trip to their state capitol in an effort to help your family. Pittsburg City Leaders will set out tomorrow to take your concerns and issues to the state capitol. So what do Pittsburg leaders hope to accomplish in Topeka tomorrow? It`s what they call their own special form of lobbying. And their secret weapons, Pichler`s Chicken Annie`s. The people who participate say the smell of the food from the Pittsburg business fills up the entire capital building and everyone knows they`re there. Once they`ve stuffed the elected officials full of chicken. It`s time for both the city of Pittsburg and the business community to tell their elected officials what they want done during the next legislative session. Gill says the community wants to continue to see a focus on education. Because the community needs educated workers who are ready to take on new jobs. Gill says he and the other community members going to topeka hope to meet with all the elected officials, including Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Reported By: Jennifer Grannan
