Presidential Visit

Updated: January 7, 2009
President Bush made a stop in Springfield this afternoon for a conversation on the economy. It was a visit just announced last week and an exciting surprise for one four state business. It was a panel type discussion as opposed to his normal speech format. The President visited SRC Automotive a machinery parts company. SRC`s CEO Jack Stack told me they learned just last week the White House was planning a visit and it wasn`t until friday they learned it would be the President. The President arrived just after noon today accompanied on Air Force one by Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt. U.S. Senators Jim Talent and Kit Bond also were in attendance. The President served as moderator during a 45-minute forum in which he touted his tax policy, his record of job creation and his policy on fighting terrorism. The employees of the plant today called the President`s visit a great honor. The President did enjoy some leisure time he made a surprise visit to Bass Pro Shops where the manager told me they had no idea he was coming. While he was there, he bought some fishing gear; including a reel, spinner baits and fishing line. Reported By: Tiffany Alaniz
