School Board Success

Two school districts are celebrating today following the voter`s approval of their school tax levies. Webb City voters passed a levy that will raise taxes 40 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed value for three years. And in Carthage, voters passed a levy that raises taxes by 67 cents per one hundred dollars of assessed property value for four years. Superintendents with the school say they`re relieved they won`t have to cut programs and jobs thanks to the money now coming into the district. "We will be able to provide the programs in the district. We don`t have to deal with reducing class sizes. We`re not looking at whole sale abandonment`s of the programs and services to our students. So it will allow us to move forward as a school district," said Ron Lankford, Webb City Superintendent. "We really appreciate everybody`s efforts and everybody`s support and we want to be good stuards of the funds which are entrusted to us. and we`ll do everything we can to use that money to help kids,"said Gary Reed, Carthage Superintendent.
