Local military reservists serving our country in iraq received some unwelcomed news. Members from Southwest Missouri`s 203rd Engineering Battalion were informed their tour of duty is being extended 90 days. About 650 members of the unit from Joplin, Neosho and Pierce City were scheduled to leave Baghdad on April 25th. Some of the members had already shipped or gave away some of their personal effects preparing for the return home. The 203rd was activated in March of 2003. They left for Iraq in May of last year after training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. The local reserve unit is among 20 thousand other troops who are now staying in iraq longer than the one year maximum they were promised. Reported By: Jim Jackson
