Woman Listed in Critical Condition

One person is in critical condition and another is in the hospital after a late afternoon car accident. The accident happened on the Kansas side of Route 66 near State Line Road. Officials say a truck driven by 33-year-old Dewayne Watson was traveling east bound when a car pulled out in front of Watson`s truck. Reports say the driver of the car, 75-year-old Truman Lewis, attempted to make the turn at the time of the accident. Lewis` wife, 80-year-old Mayme Lewis, sustained serious injuries and was taken to St. John`s Regional Medical Center in Joplin. While investigators say Lewis` car was marked with a `Low Vision` sign on the outside, they`re not saying if that was the cause of the accident. Officials say Watson did not suffer any injuries.
