Suspicious Men Try to Purchase Plane

Updated: January 7, 2009
The FBI contacts an area airport after three suspicious men try and purchase a plane. The three men of Middle Eastern decent inquired at the Neosho airport about three weeks before the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. No one seemed to be too alarmed about the men until after the attacks on September the 11th. That`s when an area pilot who spoke with the men immediately called the FBI. The men asked an area pilot about the possibility of purchasing his plane, a small single engine prop plane. But the three did not seem to have even general knowledge about aviation. The first asked if the plane could be flown to London England. And when they were told that would be impossible, they asked just how fast it could fly. After they realized the prop plane did not meet their criteria, they left the airport, but first stopped to ask about flying lessons and to pick up several brochures about planes currently on the market. The FBI has been in contact with the airport and the pilot who initially spoke with the men, but airport officials have not heard anything further about the investigation. The FBI continues to investigate hundreds of similar leads all over the country since the terrorist attacks. And there is no way at this point to know who these men in Neosho were or what their intentions may have been.
