The city of Pierce City receives some assistance to help rebuild an emergency service building. Michael Brown, the Under Secretary of Homeland Security presented a check to Pierce City Mayor Mark Peters today. 151-thousand dollars from the federal government will be used to help build a safe room for the department, which will protect them if a tornado should come through the area again. Brown and the Mayor also took a tour of the downtown to see how the businesses are recovering. "I can`t wait to go back and tell President Bush how the economey is back, jobs are back. People are doing, their businesses are growing. They`re doing everything that we would love to see small town america do. They`re doing it right here in Pierce City," said Brown. Brown was also on hand for a ground breaking of the new city hall. The current city hall has been housed in a mobile home until construction is complete. That should be done by next year.
