Alan Matthews

Updated: April 3, 2013
Alan Matthews joined Good Morning Four States in 1998 after winning the position by finishing third in a Monster Truck rally.

Growing up in the mountainous region of northern Illinois, Alan often dreamt of a career in broadcasting as well as touring with the Partridge Family. His first break came in 1982 when a local radio station hired him to cover various school board and city council meetings and traffic from the stations blimp. During his college years, which included a stint at Southern Illinois University (Go Salukis), Alan studied radio, television, film, and shadow puppets. After college, Alan worked primarily in radio, with stops in Springfield, Funkytown, Jefferson City and Columbia. It was in Jefferson City where he dared to enter the adventurous world of television. From there, he would take that giant step (3 1/2 hours by car) to Joplin and his current position at KODE.

When Alan isn't working or battling Simon Bar Sinister, he's spending time with his wife, the lovely and talented Claire, and three dogs, Shimmer and Luke, the dachshunds and Trixie, the chihuahua . Besides his love of the Chicago Cubs, other interests are movies, music, pop culture, putting off projects around the house and writing amusing bios about himself. Some of Alan's highlights while working at KODE include skydiving, fire fighting and tormenting his past and current co-hosts on a daily basis. Alan is the Executive Producer of Good Morning Four States and you can email him by clicking here .
