Authorities say alcohol may be to blame for a train accident that killed a local man. The accident happened around noon today just north of Jasper, Missouri and involved a train from the Missouri-Northern Arkansas railway and a Jasper man. Authorities say the man apparently passed out on the tracks. The conductor says he sounded the train`s whistle and yelled out the window at the man, but he could not get the train stopped before it struck the victim. Investigators found a bottle of alcohol laying near the tracks. Officers from Carthage EMS and the Jasper County Fire Department responded to the scene. Authorities have not released the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin. Written By: Robin Rogers
