Updated: January 7, 2009
Area rivers and campgrounds are full of people enjoying the memorial day weekend. Today weekenders swarmed Kozy Kamp and Gracie`s Campground in Pineville for some fun in the sun. Close to 1,000 people are expected to come through the camp sites this weekend. Daily canoe rentals are already sold out for the rest of today (Saturday). And everyone is celebrating while they remember what the meaning of the holiday is about. Steve Powell, who is camping in Pineville, said "We`re having a great time here in Pineville its great. Memorial Day is a time ot honor our veterans, and to do that we are also celebrating the start of the summer." Right now a reported 300 to 400 people have set up tents. But the majority is still expected to arrive. Camp prices range from $6-$18 per night. Reported by: Ryan Loyd
