McDonald County Roads

McDonald County Commissioners are taking a close look at their bridges and at making them safer. This, after a near drowning accident near one of their bridges. A few weeks ago, a Boy Scout troop was swimming near one of the low water bridges on Sugar Creek. While one of the boys was swimming he was sucked into a drainage tube under the bridge. The boy was rescued, but now commissioners are looking to make the bridges safer. Right now, the temporary solution has been placing rocks near the tubes to keep people from getting caught. The Commissioners have also considered an ordinance, restricting swimmers to stay 25 feet away from the tubes. Reported By: Tiffany Alaniz
