Jasper County Domestic Violence

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Local counties are working together to prevent domestic violence. The Jasper Newton County family violence council met at the Newman County Courthouse Monday. The council is made up of multiple agencies from Jasper and Newton County. That includes members of law enforcement, the medical community and local educators. One of their initiatives is to form a website that will allow victims of abuse to go online to file a petition and receive more information about getting help. Representatives from the Lafayette house say there are ways to prepare an escape from a violent household. You can put money aside. Be sure to keep all your paper work together like your driver`s license and social security card. Also keep all of your children`s paperwork together. For more information on domestic violence call the Joplin Police Department at 623-3131. And if you need help you can contact the Lafayette House at 782-1772. Reported By: Bridget Barone
